Memorial Day

Isabella and I went to the Island with some friends on Sunday. It was a perfect day--not too hot and a little windy. It felt so good that I forgot to put sunscreen on my legs and got really burned. It is still a little tender to touch. Isabella had a great time though walking around on the sand. She loved to walk in the water as long as the water didn't get to rough. Here are some pics from the afternoon.

Being Outside

Well, Isabella loves to be outside. It is difficult down here in Texas because 1) it is way too hot
and 2) fire ants. Isabella loves to crawl (or now walk) out to the grass and then sit in it. It is really funny because she finds so much pleasure from it.
These next pictures where taken the morning after a BIG storm we had last week. She really loves water and on this occasion I had to leave her pants outside.

Mother's Day

well, I hope you will forgive me. I realize this is a week late, but oh well. Matt gave me a wonderful weekend. Saturday I got to go scrapbook all afternoon at the clinic with some girl friends. Scrapbooking is so much more fun when you are able to do it with friends.
Here are some pictures from church on Sunday. Isabella wasn't too happy at first to take pictures (she was wanting to climb the stage stairs).

This picture was a little better. Wow, she really wanted to climb those stairs.

Matt in Burma

well, Matt has been in Burma since Saturday. I haven't really heard much from him, but the team has gotten a little word out that things are going better than they were expecting. They are staying at a very nice hotel and are getting the rest that they need at night. They have been able to help some local doctors and hospitals with things like water and supplies. From what I can tell they even have visited a village and were able to help local people there with injuries. I am sure Matt will have a lot to blog about when he gets home next week.
We are doing okay at the home front. Isabella has gotten another tooth and is in good spirits (which is very good for mommy). Please continue to keep us in your prayers and some extra for Matt and his team.
I'll be posting some pictures of Isabella in the next day or two.

Things You Can't be Afraid Of

If you are going to be a fisherman, which I hesitate to say that I am, there are a few things that you cannot be afraid of.....

1. Breaking your rod or your line (happened last week)
2. Getting snags, after all the bass like to live where there are snags (happens every time)
3. Getting Typhus (happened last fishing trip when I got pooped on by the Owls. However, the typhus actually came from bug bites (chiggers) )
For those who don't know, Typhus causes high fevers and makes you think you are never going to get better... until you get doxycycline and 24 hours later you are pretty much back to normal. Typhus is a rare disease that is reportable to the CDC. And where do the majority of Typhus cases happen..... south Texas.
4. Catching a big fish, which might break your rod (it happened tonight!!!!!)
5. Snakes (again, happened tonight - which reminded me how afraid I am of snakes. I was very glad when no one was around to hear me squeal like a middle school girl)

The Lost son has Returned

We are so happy that our brown dog, Rocco, has returned. I got a call yesterday from a man that had taken Rocco in last Thursday (when he went missing). He was only able to keep him for one night because the apartment complex he lives in does not allow pets. So, Friday he called the humane society and they picked up Rocco. So, I was confused because I went to the humane society on Thursday and gave them information on Rocco, but they had not called me.
I went there as soon as it opened and found Rocco right away. It was hard seeing him in the cage, but he looked okay. They had mixed up their paper work, so I didn't have to pay anything for them having him. But..there always seems to be a "but" in situations like these. I have to go to court in two weeks, because we got a citation. We are hoping we don't have to pay anything. We'll see..but we are so happy that Rocco is back in our home--it wasn't the same without him.
